PREPARING
Night of:
Rest and sleep well
Do not take any medication (unless necessary), any pre-workout, anything that contains blood thinners
Avoid tanning and sunburn
Stay hydrated
When showering, please don't exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating makes skin renew itself and the new skin is fragile, making it harder to tattoo. This of course does not mean you shouldn't shower or wash yourself, just don't scrub your skin too much.
You also do not need to shave the area yourself. If it's not an area that you don't usually shave anyway, leave the shaving to the artist.
Day of:
Make sure to eat a full meal and drink plenty of water before coming to your appointment. Getting tattooed usually takes a toll on the body, so your body needs fuel to get through the day. You can also bring snacks (something sugary) with you to the tattoo appointment.
Avoid alcohol. Alcohol is a temporary blood thinner, and drinking could lead to excessive bleeding
Over-the-counter pain relievers like Tylenol or Advil have the same effect, don't use them before your appointment.
What to wear:
Wear loose fitting clothing that is easily accessible, and don't mind getting ink on hypothetically
Keep in mind that you'll be sitting in the same position for a significant amount of time, so comfort is key.
Please bring:
Your ID
l accept Zelle, Cashapp, Venmo or Cash
AFTERCARE
First 24 hours:
Keep second skin wrap (the transparent bandage) on for 3 to 4 days.
Shower normally, but do not excessively soak, or submerge tattoo in water
There will be ink and bodily fluids leaking under the wrap; it's normal!
If the wrap starts to come off, do not attempt to reapply it.
Instead, remove it.
If water gets inside the wrap, remove it immediately
After 24 hours:After removing the second skin wrap very slowly, preferably in the shower.
Wash the tattoo area gently with antibacterial soap and warm water. Afterwards, let the area air dry.
Healing Process (4 to 5 weeks):Once the second bandage has been removed, the tattoo may appear to be fully healed on the surface; however, the deeper layers of skin will still be repairing for up to 2 months. Please continue to clean the tattoo and apply unscented/undyed lotion to keep the tattoo moisturized
Wait until the area is completely dry after showers to apply any kind of moisturizer
Clean bedding and clothing are important to avoid infection, as dirt, oils, and other substances can affect the healing process. It's also normal for the tattoo area to flake and scab (should be minimal after the bandage)
Things to Avoid:
Avoid pool, ocean, river, lake, or pond water after two weeks
Avoid exercising as well as other activities that cause sweating for two weeks
Avoid washing the area excessively
Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight for two weeks
